Before you book

Before you will be allowed to sit any element of the QLTS you must apply to the Solicitors Regulation Authority of England and Wales for a Certificate of Eligibility.

The fee to accompany the application for the Certificate of Eligibility is currently £200 for Non European Lawyers and £400 for European Lawyers which is payable directly to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

The SRA will inform you if you have been granted exemptions from any elements of the assessment. You will need to provide us with a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility, detailing the specific exemptions you have been granted, at the time of booking.

Once you have applied for and received your Certificate of Eligibility, the next step is to visit our website and make a booking.

You need to have received your Certificate of Eligibility before booking an assessment.

Please note: It is imperative that you register with us for the scheme using the name provided by you to the SRA for the purpose of obtaining your certificate of eligibility (or the name as stated on your certificate of eligibility if you have already received this).

If you have changed your name either since applying for your certificate of eligibility or since it was issued to you, please explain this to us at the time of booking. You will be required to bring supporting documents to your assessment which explains why your name has changed. There is further information about this later in this document.

If you are in any doubt about this, please discuss it with the Scheme Manager when you register with us to take an assessment in order to avoid delay on the day of the assessment.

As soon as we receive your details, we will contact you to finalise your booking and arrange for payment to be made. To secure your place, you will need to pay the fee for the assessment which you are booking by debit or credit card over the telephone or by cheque (made payable to Kaplan Altior) or by bank transfer.
